Is anyone out there?

How is everyone? We are good. We had a wedding in our family on April 21. Tom's step-son, Bobby, married a wonderful girl, Becky. They live in Cloquet, MN (up north as they say here). It was a beautiful wedding and reception. Bobby had a permanent smile on his face the entire time.

Tom is retiring from the prison on May 31. A big party will be held at his boss' house. We hope to have lots of family there as well as our prison (the good kind) friends. He is looking forward to it, but he is not retiring from working life, he has started a garage door business, so he plans on doing that full-time now. He bought a building in the industrial park here in Waseca last fall and put a great new sign recently. It is actually a garage door.
At the age of almost 49 I am going to get braces again. I was naughty and didn't wear my retainer as long as I should have years ago so my teeth moved. That has always bothered me, so I am finally taking the plunge. I may very well have them on the same time as my granddaughter!! Now, that will be embarrassing...for her.
Let's keep in touch on this blog. If you need help on how to do it, please email me at tomkatmag@msn.com.

Aunt Phyllis' Service

Aunt Phyllis' service was beautiful. Afterwards at the luncheon Don & Jerry & families placed her jewelry out on a table so we could all choose some pieces. It was a wonderful idea! We had a great time looking through all of it and taking some items to remember Phyllis by. I heard several cousins say how they used to play with her jewelry as kids. My sisters and I remember doing that as well. Thanks for the momentos and the memories. It was wonderful to see everyone, hopefully next time it will be at a family reunion.

Gene Schoenberger

I wanted to be sure everyone knew that Gene Schoenberger is in the hospital in Wichita. He was admitted Dec. 23 or 24 (I am not totally sure which day) with a kidney infection, he had to undergo dialysis. Later it was discovered he also had pneumonia. He has had some rough days, but he is improving. For more information email Sharon at sharon_k_sommers@hotmail.com.

Keep Gene in your prayers!

Mery Christmas & Family Reunion

Hello,

I just read Darlene's comment on my last post. She had good news - her last CT scan was clean - so glad to hear it!

Also Leonard Schoenberger is doing good and is going to be planning the next family reunion some time next year. Look forward to more info on that. I do still have our family books if anyone needs one.

Hello everyone

We haven't had any activity on the blog for a couple months, so I thought I would say hello. We did have an accident in our family last month, but all is well. Karen's daughter, Amy, got out of her van to tend to a screaming child she thought had her hand in the door. She thought she got the van in park, but it was not, the door knocked her over and ran over her legs! She was hospitalized for about 4 days, had surgery to repair a bone in her left ankle (they put a plate and pin in). She was very sore from the fall and of course the van running over her legs, it also hit her abdomen, but luckily just bumped her there. The other ankle was sprained, she had to wear air casts on both for awhile. Luckily the bone that broke was not a weight-baring bone. Worst for Amy was seeing her three kids heading towards a very busy street, and she couldn't get to them. But she has a smart, brave littel boy. Her 8 year old son, Jacob, got in the driver's seat and (we think) turned the wheel because they turned back towards her house and bumped into a tree. The kids were traumatized for a while. Jacob is quite the character, telling the policeman that the van couldn't have ran over his Mom because he didn't "feel the thump of the body". All of this and her little 3-year-old girl only had a scratch on her finger, no one knows what she even did, her hand was not in the door.

Karen and I just celebrated our 38th (okay 48th) birthday with our husbands and Gene & Lynn. They all came to Minnesota for a few days, we had a good time.

How are all of you? If you want to do a post and can't figure out how please ask me or Connie.

Love to all,
Kathy
